Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a jump 'n' run game from Ubisoft that was released in 2003 . It belongs to the series of Rayman games, all of which come from Ubisoft. The game has been released for Windows and Mac OS as well as for PlayStation 2 , GameCube , Game Boy Advance and Xbox . It is the sequel to Rayman 2: The Great Escape , released in 1999 .

Game history

Rayman and Globox are just recovering from their last adventure when new calamities are brewing over Rayman's world. A Lums turns into André, a black Lums. André flies around and transforms other lums into so-called hoodlums (English crooks ) that devastate Rayman's world. In a following level, André is swallowed by Globox; then Rayman looks for a doctor to get André out of Globox.

A large part of the game consists of this endeavor. Rayman and Globox visit a total of three doctors who each play a piece of music on Globox in order to "drone" André out of Globox's body. However, each time André disappears into a different part of the body. The last doctor calls all doctors together who all play a piece of music on Globox. This drives André out of Globox's body.

He wants revenge and seeks out Reflux, the Knaaren magician, whom Rayman had defeated during his stay in Knaarenland. Together they steal the scepter of the dark god Leptys and conjure up his power. After Rayman has destroyed the headquarters of the Hoodlums, he enters the tower of the Leptys, on which he has to defeat a transformed reflux a total of four times. Then Rayman takes on André, who can be defeated by a simple grimace. When that happens, the playful part is over, but you can still see André resurrecting in a final sequence.

particularities

Rayman 3 has a well-developed game world and bizarre characters. For example, it is not a beautiful princess who is saved, but Globox, Rayman's frog-like buddy. In a total of nine extensive worlds and a total of 48 levels, Rayman Hoodlums, Knaaren and physical challenges have to be faced. In addition, there are eight bonus levels in the game, in which, for example, you take on the role of hoodlums in mini-games or play Rayman in the old 2D form. There are also some funny video sequences. These bonuses can be unlocked by collecting gold and green gems and red diamonds that can be found throughout the main game.

reception

Rayman 3 received mostly good reviews. Only the relatively short playing time was criticized. The game could not build on the success of its predecessor.
