Raymond Cruz
Raymond Cruz (born July 9, 1961 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor .
Life
The Mexican-born Raymond Cruz grew up in Los Angeles in a neighborhood where street violence was perpetrated. He lets experiences from his childhood flow into his roles, which are mostly criminals or police officers. Cruz attended East Los Angeles College .
Cruz started his acting career in the late 1980s. From 2005 to 2012 Cruz starred in the television series The Closer as Detective Julio Sanchez. For this role he won the Imagen Foundation Award in 2006 . He then embodied this character in the spin-off Major Crimes until 2018 . In addition to this role, he gained notoriety through the impersonation of the gangster Tuco Salamanca in the successful series Breaking Bad (2008-2009). In the series Better Call Saul , which describes the history of Breaking Bad, he again plays the role of Tuco Salamanca.
