Raymond Mwanyika

Raymond Mwanyika (* 1930 in Uwemba ; † October 24, 2013 ) was a Tanzanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Njombe .

Life

Raymond Mwanyika was ordained a priest on October 11, 1959 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 16, 1971 Bishop of Njombe. The Archbishop of Dar es Salaam , Cardinal Laurean Rugambwa , ordained him episcopally on April 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Eberhard Spieß OSB , Abbot Emeritus of the Territorial Abbey of Peramiho , and James Dominic Sangu , Bishop of Mbeya .

On June 8, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation because of health reasons.

Mwanyika was with Polycarp Cardinal Pengo head of the Commission for Finance and Organization of the Episcopal Conference of Tanzania. He was a representative of the Bishops 'Conference of Tanzania in the Association of Bishops' Conferences of East Africa (AMECEA) .
