Raymond Wiseman (born April 18, 1957 in Düsseldorf ) is a German-Austrian journalist and specialist book author for computer technology .

life and career

After graduating from the Görres-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf in 1976, Wiseman studied German and philosophy at the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf from 1977 . He received his PhD in 1985 at Manfred Frank Dr. phil. with a work on Egon Friedell . Wiseman then taught at the German Department of Heinrich Heine University until 1988.

Wiseman began writing in the early 1970s. The first documented publication appeared in 1974 in the literary booklets of Raith Verlag (booklet 46).

In 1987 Wiseman turned to popular engineering topics. After Microsoft's Windows appeared in 1985, there was great demand for German-language manuals and manufacturer-independent practical guides for software. Wiseman published in quick succession in various specialist book publishers such as Sybex (Düsseldorf), Ullstein-Taschenbuchverlag (Berlin), Eichborn (in Frankfurt am Main), Econ-Verlag (Munich) and the Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt books such as »Das Word für Windows Buch ”or the thirty-title series“ The 5-Minute Method ”.

In response to lively demand, Wiseman founded the »Wise Man's« editorial office in 1992. This group of authors produced around two hundred titles with a total print run of five million copies, some of which were translated into French, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Chinese, as well as into Braille.

In 1989 he also began working as a freelance technology journalist for national newspapers such as FAZ , NZZ , Wirtschaftswoche and Computer-Bild up to and including Playboy . He wrote radio reports for WDR and Antenne Düsseldorf and was active in chats.

In 1996 Wiseman founded "Up2Day Internet GmbH", later "Valudo AG", and was its managing partner and (from 2001 to 2017) chairman of the supervisory board. The website “Gratis.De” for “free products, competitions and customer-oriented added value” became Valudo's main activity from 1997 onwards.

From 1997 onwards, under the pseudonym Peter Prinz , over 160 editions of computer picture paperbacks were created for the Ullstein publishing house, based on the graphics of the picture newspaper. Under the author's name Heinrich Puju, children's stories on the one hand, and numerous PC tips by Raymond Wiseman on the other, were released.

Raymond Wiseman is married with a son and lives today, 2019, with his wife on the Lower Rhine.
