Re-Armed is a Finnish death and thrash metal band from Kerava that was formed in 2001.

history

The band was founded in 2001 by five musicians. The first appearances followed as well as various line-up changes. In addition, several demos were released before the debut album Worldwide Hypnotize was released in January 2012 via Massacre Records . The album was recorded at the end of 2010. This was followed by tours through Europe together with Chimaira , Suffocation , Origin , Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy . In addition, the group was seen at the Bloodstock Open Air . In January 2014 the second album under the name Rottendam followed via Eternal Sound Records . Then the guitarist and songwriter Tommi Helkalahti left the line-up, after which the band paused for a long time. With a new line-up, the EP Total Lack of Communication followed in 2015 . The next album followed in September 2016 via Saarni Records under the name The Era of Precarity .

style

Dominik Winter from Metal Hammer wrote in his review of Stop This Evolution that it was Death Metal in Scandinavian style with a strong Thrash Metal influence. The song Shieldshock offers a “ scream-grunt mix ” and briefly has a groove that is reminiscent of Napalm Death . In the other songs, the group combines melodies and blast beats . In a later issue, Anzo Sadoni reviewed Hypnotize Worldwide . The group says that they try to play Gothenburg style Death Metal , which you can also hear from the music, but a comparison to Callenish Circle or Detonation , which would play a more extreme version of Melodic Death Metal , is more accurate . The group also incorporated elements from modern metal such as gang shouts and breakdowns . In the same issue, Dominik Winter interviewed Jouni Matilainen. The group play a mixture of Thrash and Death Metal and can be classified between The Crown and Machine Head . In addition, influences from Black Metal and Grindcore can be heard. Matilainen stated that the album was trying to criticize modern society. According to Andreas Groh from rocktimes.de , mainly Death Metal can be heard on Rottendam , with Thrash Metal as well as Grindcore parts. However, there are no permanent keyboard sounds, as is usual in Finnish Metal , but "two shredding guitars that also occasionally sprinkle leads and pounding drums". The singing consists of " grunting " and " barking ".
