Real Tonga Airlines (in its own spelling REALtonga ) is a Tongan airline founded in 2013 with headquarters in Nukuʻalofa and based at Fuaʻamotu Airport .
It has been making losses since its inception and is also in financial trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Tonga .
Destinations
Real Tonga Airlines serves the individual islands of Tonga from Nukuʻalofa . A codeshare agreement has been in place with Fiji Airways ( Fiji Link ) since July 2017 for the routes Vavaʻu to Nadi and Suva .
Since December 18, international connections have been offered again with the destination Apia on Samoa , which were discontinued in May 2018.

Former fleet
In early 2015, Real Tonga Airlines received a Xi'an MA60 that was a gift from the People's Republic of China to the government of Tonga. Since the adoption of New Zealand's Tonga airspace regulation in February 2015, certification of the aircraft has been pending, which is why the aircraft was returned to the Tonga government on April 5, 2015. Flight operations were then continued with a chartered ATR 72 . The MA60 flew in September 2016 without international certification, but instead with an Air Operator Certificate from the Ministry of Infrastructure in Tonga from August 2016.
The only Xi'an MA60 ceased operations in June 2019.
