Rebutia steinmannii is a species of plant in the genus Rebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors Gustav Steinmann .
description
Rebutia steinmannii usually sprouts with spherical to short cylindrical bodies and forms groups. With a diameter of 1 to 3.5 centimeters, the bodies reach heights of up to 2 centimeters and more. You have a beet root. The 8 to 10 ribs are arranged in a spiral shape and divided into low humps. The oval areoles on it are brownish to whitish. There is no central spine . The 8 to 13 radial spines are yellowish white. They are needle-like, thin, flexible, protruding or spread out, often interwoven and 3 to 10 millimeters long.
The bright red to purple, bell-shaped flowers are up to 5 centimeters long and 4 centimeters in diameter. The pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with some grayish hairs. The scars are light yellow or sometimes pale green.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Rebutia steinmannii is distributed in Bolivia in the departments of Chuquisaca , Oruro and Potosí and in Argentina in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy at altitudes of up to 4000 meters.
The first description as Echinocactus steinmannii was published in 1907 by Hermann Maximilian Carl Ludwig Friedrich zu Solms-Laubach . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose placed them in the genus Rebutia in 1922 . The type is very variable.
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
