Red Sniper - Die Todesschützin (Ukrainian: Незламна , German: The Undefeated; Russian: Битва за Севастополь, German: The Battle of Sevastopol) is a Ukrainian - Russian film by the director Sergueï Mokritskiy from 2015.
The title song Der Kuckuck (original title: Russian Кукушка ), in a version by the Russian singer Polina Sergejewna Gagarina, comes from Viktor Robertowitsch Zoi .

The UN diplomat Eleanor Roosevelt visited the party leader of the CPSU Nikita Khrushchev in Yalta in the Crimea in October 1957 . But before the meeting she wants to visit Lyudmila Pavlichenko first . As the first lady at the time, she had met the former Red Army sniper with the rank of major, heroine of the Soviet Union and historian in the USA during the war in 1942.
Flashbacks tell a dramatic section from the life of Lyudmila from the beginning of her studies in 1937, about her time as a sniper in the Red Army and her work in the Battle of Sevastopol , to her visit with a Soviet delegation to the USA in autumn 1942 .

The film is a co-production between Ukraine and Russia, which was made on the 70th anniversary of the victory over Hitler's Germany as a commissioned work with money from both countries between 2013 and 2014 and was one of the most successful cinema productions of 2015 in both countries.

The film adheres closely to the historical facts and biographical details of the people portrayed. Originally transmitted quotations are also used literally, for example from a speech by Lyudmila Pavlitschenko in September 1942 in Chicago :
