The Reformed Church Wollerau is a church building in the municipality of Freienbach belonging to the village of Wollerau , Switzerland . Ecclesiastically, the reformed diaspora community of Höfe encompasses the entire political district of Höfe .

history

The parish of Höfe was founded in 1906 as the fourth diaspora parish in the Catholic canton of Schwyz. In the course of the 19th century, numerous Protestants immigrated mainly from the neighboring canton of Zurich . The parish was initially looked after by the parish office of the Siebnen Church .

With the help of the Protestant Church Aid Association from Zurich , a church building was realized after six years of planning. Despite high costs, the parish approved a church building project by the architects Müller & Freitag from Thalwil in 1917 . The church building was completed in the same year on a plot of land near the border between Freienbach and Wollerau. In 1918 the equipment was completed and an organ was installed in the choir room .

The expansion options for the church already played a role in the planning phase. 1991-1992 an extension of the nave was carried out.

Exterior

The choir was added to the east side of the simple hall church with a steep hipped roof and the tower to the north. The latter has a half-hip roof , sound windows and large characteristic dials. The facades are characterized by arched windows. Among the few decorative elements on the outside are the capitals of the northern sign in a subtle homeland style .

inner space

The rear part of the nave is taken up by the incorporated tower and a gallery . There is an instruction room under the gallery. The ship is heavily occupied by the figurative and symbolic stained glass by JR Schläppi (1974) and the abstract stained glass by Franco Giacomel (1992). The building sculpture is limited to a subtle ornamentation on the ceiling and around the north portal.

The decorative paintings on the choir arch are remarkable . The windowless choir is filled by an organ, the wings of which are inlaid . In front of the choir is the liturgical area , which is a few steps higher, with a wooden pulpit and baptismal font from 1992 and a marble table for gifts from the construction period.

Surroundings
