The Regener See is a reservoir in the northeast of Regen in the Regen district .

The river Black Rain was right next to the national highway 11 also dammed for both flood control as to generate electricity and the hydroelectric power plant from the OBAG taken in 1955 in operation. The lake is up to 7 meters deep, in the area of the weir 3 to 4 meters. Soon it developed into a sports and recreational area . On January 14th and 15th, 1961, the 11th European Ice Stock Championships took place on the reservoir , followed by other major tournaments.

Beavers , among others , can be found in the wetland habitat around the lake, which is designated as an FFH area . The lake became an important fishing area that is home to barbel , grayling , huchen , pike , pikeperch , brown trout , carp and tench .

In 1981 the E-Werk came into private ownership. Over the years, the lake became increasingly muddy due to flooding from the upper reaches. On August 3, 2007, two aprons at the weir system sunk due to a defect, which led to the almost complete leakage of the water and at the same time carried considerable amounts of sludge into the lower reaches. The fish population in the lake and the occurrence of freshwater pearl mussels in the Rinchnacher Ohe , which flows into it , were severely impaired. In the meantime, the lake is externally in its former state, and the fish stocks were increased in 2008 by a new population.
