Lubomír Štrougal II government
The Czechoslovak government Lubomír Štrougal II , led by Prime Minister Lubomír Štrougal , was in office from December 9, 1971 to November 11, 1976. It followed the Lubomír Štrougal I government and was replaced by the Lubomír Štrougal III government .
Government formation, program
Because on 26./27. November 1971 several postponed elections to the National Assembly were held, it was necessary according to the constitution to call a new government into office. This happened on December 9, 1971.
Domestically, the so-called normalization phase was already completed during the term of office of the previous Štrougal I government, as the government declaration of December 17, 1971 states. Foreign policy highlights include the conclusion and ratification of the Prague Treaty of 1973 on mutual relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, which, among other things, declared the Munich Agreement of 1938 on the cession of the Sudeten area to be null and void .
