Rudolf Rohlíček

Rudolf Rohlíček (born July 14, 1929 in Malacky ; † June 24, 2009 in Modra ) was a Czechoslovak and Slovak party functionary, economist and, as a politician, deputy prime minister and multiple minister.

Political career

Rohlíček received his training at the University of Economics in Bratislava , after which he worked in the Investment Bank in Bratislava from 1948 to 1959 . 1960–1963 he attended seminars at the Political College of the Central Committee of the KPTsch .

1963-1969 Rohlíček worked in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia and in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In 1971 he was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia at the XIV Party Congress and was confirmed in this position at the party conventions in 1976, 1981 and 1986; from October 1988 to November 1989 he was also a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee.

Although a Slovak, Rohlíček always ran for various elections in Bohemia, specifically in various Prague electoral districts. In 1971 he became a member of the Federal National Assembly and remained in that capacity until January 1990.

The most important component of his political career, however, was his activity in various governments of Czechoslovakia. From 1969–1973 he was Minister of Finance in the Governments Oldřich Černík III , Lubomír Štrougal I and Lubomír Štrougal II ; after being replaced as finance minister by Leopold Lér , he was deputy prime minister in the governments of Lubomír Štrougal II , Lubomír Štrougal III , Lubomír Štrougal IV , Lubomír Štrougal V and Lubomír Štrougal VI from 1973 to 1988 .

Rohlíček was also active in committees of the Council for Mutual Economic Aid (COMECON): 1969–1973 as head of the Czechoslovak delegation to the Permanent Commission of the Council for Financial and Foreign Exchange Issues, after 1973 as representative of Czechoslovakia at Comecon and chairman of the Council for International Economic Affairs - and scientific cooperation.
