Jaromír Žák

Jaromír Žák (born October 18, 1942 in Všechovice ) was a Czechoslovak politician, Communist Party member, member of parliament and minister.

Life

Žák did an apprenticeship in a large company in the petrochemical industry in Litvínov , where he then worked. From 1966 he studied at the University of Economics in Prague . He joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) in 1960. Between 1971 and 1974 he worked in the Ministry of Finance. After 1974 he worked in the apparatus of the Central Committee of KSČ, in 1986 he became a candidate and in 1989 a member of the Central Committee. In the parliamentary elections in 1986 he won a seat as a member of parliament, which he held until 1990.

Jaromír Žák held several government functions: from November 29, 1985 to October 11, 1988, he was Minister of Finance in the Lubomír Štrougal IV , Lubomír Štrougal V and Lubomír Štrougal VI governments , and in the Ladislav Adamec government from December 10, 1988 in Minister rank entrusted with the management of the Federal Price Office, from June 19, 1989 he became Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time chairman of the State Planning Commission.
