Karel Trapl
Karel Trapl (born August 31, 1881 in Chrudim , † April 7, 1940 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak economist, lawyer, politician and finance minister.
Life
Trapl attended a grammar school in Prague, where he then studied law. After a brief employment as a lawyer and at the regional court in Prague, he accepted a position as a lawyer at the Post Office in Prague. There Trapl became deputy president in 1919, and from 1926 president of the postal check office; after its conversion into a postal savings bank, he became its first governor in 1930. In addition, he had various functions in several stock exchange and banking institutions.
Karel Trapl was appointed minister in various governments several times after 1931:
- April 16, 1931 to October 29, 1932: Minister of Finance in the František Udržal II government (where he replaced Karel Engliš)
- October 29, 1932 to February 14, 1934: Finance Minister in the Jan Malypetr I government
- February 14, 1934 to June 4, 1935: Finance Minister in the Jan Malypetr II government
- June 4, 1935 to November 5, 1935: Finance Minister in the Jan Malypetr III government
- November 5, 1935 to December 18, 1935: Minister of Finance in the Milan Hodža I government
- December 18, 1935 to March 17, 1936: Minister of Finance in the Milan Hodža II government (resignation for health reasons)
After his resignation, he resumed his previous position as governor of the Postal Savings Bank.
