Regina Kreide (* 1968 ) is a German political scientist and professor for political theory and the history of ideas at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Her areas of work include political theory and political philosophy , including theories of justice (global justice), democratic theory, theory and practice of human rights, and gender studies .

Life

Regina Kreide studied biology, art, sociology and philosophy at the Universities of Cologne and Frankfurt am Main . In 2000 she was awarded a thesis on “Human rights and citizenship - on the establishment of social and political rights” at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Goethe University in Frankfurt a. M. PhD.

From 1997 to 1998 she was visiting professor at the Department of Philosophy at Columbia University , New York. In 2006 she was a lecturer at the Universidad de Antioquia Medellin, Colombia. In 2009 she was Theodor Heuss Visiting Associate Professor and Lecturer at the New School for Social Research New York and before that she was a research assistant and research assistant at the Institute for Fundamentals of Social Sciences at the Goethe University in Frankfurt a. M. In the years 2010–2012, Kreide was the spokesperson for the “Politics and Gender” working group of the German Association for Political Science (DVPW) . Since January 2010 Regina Kreide has been full professor for political theory and the history of ideas at the Institute for Political Science at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen , where she was the managing director from 2010 to 2013.

Kreide was visiting professor at the University of Washington in Seattle and the UAM Iztapalapa in Mexico City.

Regina Kreide is co-founder and editor of the Zeitschrift für Menschenrechte / Journal for Human Rights and editor of the book series Political Sociology by Nomos Verlag .
