The University of Antioquia ( Spanish Universidad de Antioquia , abbr. UdeA) is the oldest state university in Colombia , the foundation of which is dated to 1803. It is the most important university in the Antioquia Department .

The seat is in Medellín . Other locations are Caucasia , Puerto Berrío , Amalfi , Segovia , Yarumal , Santa Fe de Antioquia , El Carmen de Viboral , Andes and Turbo .

The university offers nationally accredited bachelor's and master's degrees and post-baccalaureate programs offered through both face-to-face communication and distance learning .

In July 2017, Times Higher Education magazine published a list of the best universities in South America. The Universidad de Antioquia came in 17th place.

The university's theater, founded in 1969, has 1,500 seats. It is available to the public.

With the Editorial Universidad de Antioquia , the university has been publishing a series of books with around 350 titles since 1929 . It contains authoritative contributions from the contributions of members of the institution on topics in the humanities and social sciences.

The library has existed since 1803 and has a wide range in six branch libraries on an area of ​​12,008 m². This includes more than 650,000 reference works.

In addition, the university has four schools ( microbiology , libraries, languages ​​and nutrition) and four institutes (physical education, philosophy, regional studies and political studies). In addition, the university has had its own television program since 1982.
