Amalfi is a municipality ( municipality ) in the Antioquia department in Colombia .

geography

Amalfi is located in the sub-region Nordeste in Antioquia 144 km from Medellín at an altitude of about 1550  m above sea level. NN in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes and has an average temperature of 24 ° C. The municipality borders Gómez Plata , Anorí and Guadalupe in the west, Segovia , Remedios and Vegachí in the east, Yolombó in the south and Anorí and Segovia in the north.

The municipality of Amalfi has 22,714 inhabitants, of which 12,696 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

Amalfi was founded in 1838 and received parish status in 1843.
