Dabeiba is a municipality ( municipio ) in the Department of Antioquia in Colombia .

geography

Dabeiba is located in the Occidente sub-region in Antioquia on the Río Sucio. The municipality borders Mutatá and Ituango in the north, Peque in the east, Uramita and Frontino in the south and Murindó and Carmen del Darién and Riosucio in Chocó in the west .

population

The municipality of Dabeiba has 22,954 inhabitants, of whom 9004 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

history

When the Spaniards arrived, the area of ​​today's Dabeiba was inhabited by the indigenous people of the Katíos , who offered great resistance to the Spaniards. The Spanish colonized the region slowly. Today's Dabeiba was founded in 1850.
