Ciudad Bolívar is located in the Suroeste sub-region in Antioquia 109 km from Medellín at an altitude of about 1200 m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 24 ° C. The municipality borders Salgar in the north, Pueblorrico in the east, Betania and Hispania in the south and El Carmen de Atrato in Chocó in the west .

history

The present place was founded in 1839 by settler families. From 1850 the layout of the streets and the main square was laid out. The original name San Juan was changed to Ciudad Bolívar in 1861 in honor of Simón Bolívar . Ciudad Bolívar has had the status of a municipality since 1869.
