SonSon is a municipality ( municipio ) in the Department of Antioquia in Colombia .

geography

Sonsón is located in the sub-region Oriente Antioqueño in Antioquia at an altitude of 2475  m above sea level. NN . The municipality borders in the north on El Carmen de Viboral , Cocorná , San Francisco and Puerto Triunfo , in the west on Abejorral and Aguadas in the Departamento de Caldas , in the south on Argelia and Nariño as well as Pensilvania , Norcasia and La Dorada in Caldas and in the east to Puerto Boyacá in the Boyacá department .

Sonsón was founded in 1800 by José Joaquín Ruiz y Zapata and settled from Rionegro .
