José Saúl Grisales Grisales (born April 12, 1964 in Sonsón ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ipiales .

Life

José Saúl Grisales Grisales studied at the Cristo Sacerdote National Seminary in La Ceja and received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Sonsón-Rionegro from Bishop Alfonso Uribe Jaramillo on November 12, 1989 .

After further studies, he obtained a licentiate in liturgical science at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome. He was mainly active in the formation of priests, for example as the rain of the diocesan seminary . At times he was a local employee of the Apostolic Nunciature in Colombia. Later he was cathedral pastor at the cathedral Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá in Sonsón and since 2017 vicar general of the diocese of Sonsón-Rionegro.

On February 3, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Ipiales. The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Ettore Balestrero , donated him episcopal ordination on March 17th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sonsón-Rionegro, Fidel León Cadavid Marín , and Elkin Fernando Álvarez Botero , auxiliary bishop in Medellín . The inauguration in the diocese of Ipiales took place on April 17, 2018.
