Puerto Triunfo is a municipality ( municipio ) in the Department of Antioquia in Colombia .
geography
Puerto Triunfo is located in the Magdalena Medio sub-region in Antioquia 180 km from Medellín and 188 km from Bogotá at an altitude of about 150 m above sea level. NN at the Río Magdalena and has an average temperature of 28 ° C. The municipality borders Puerto Boyacá in Boyacá in the east, Puerto Nare in the north, San Luis in the west and Sonsón in the south .

history
Since 1882 the area of today's Puerto Triunfo belonged administratively to San Luis . Until 1905 the place was known as El Triunfo , after that it was called Puerto Uribe Gómez . A Corregimiento belonging to San Luis , which included the present municipality, was created in 1944 under the name El Rebozo . The place has had its current name since 1945. Puerto Triunfo received municipality status in 1977. Historically, Puerto Triunfo has been the site of conflict between the various parties and has been a stronghold and retreat for the conservatives .
economy
The main industries in Puerto Triunfo are agriculture and mining . There are limes , corn , cassava and bananas grown, marble mined and cement produced. Tourism also plays an important role.
Hacienda Nápoles
The Hacienda Nápoles theme park is located at Corregimiento Doradal in the municipality of Puerto Triunfo . The estate was owned by drug lord Pablo Escobar , who set up a private zoo on the estate and imported exotic animals from Africa. After Escobar's death, the site fell into disrepair. In the meantime, the community has converted the property into a theme park that aims to attract tourists from all over the world.
