Regina Maria Anzenberger (* in Vienna ) is an Austrian artist, curator , gallery owner and head of an agency for photographers.

Life

Regina Maria Anzenberger was born in Vienna , Austria and began to work in photography and art at the age of 13 . In 1983 she worked as a picture editor for various Austrian magazines. In 1989 she founded the AnzenbergerAgency, an agency representing international photographers for the magazine and magazine market. In 2002, the AnzenbergerGallery was founded, a gallery for contemporary photography that regularly offers national and international photographers a platform. Anzenberger is also a curator of international exhibitions and publisher of various publications. After moving the gallery into the premises of the former anchor bread factory in Vienna's 10th district in 2012 , she expanded the gallery with a bookshop for photo books and the AnzenbergerEdition, a publishing house for photo books. Between 2014 and 2018 she led the Anzenberger Masterclass, in which budding photographers were accompanied by professional photographers for 10 months. They learned to develop ideas and long-term projects and to produce them as books or exhibitions. From 2013 to 2017 Regina Anzenberger organized the ViennaPhotoBookFestival together with OstLicht - Galerie für Fotografie, to which numerous international star photographers, such as William Klein , Martin Parr or Josef Koudelka , were invited. Since 2016 she has been dedicating herself to her own artistic work in addition to the gallery, the bookshop and the agency.

Regina Maria Anzenberger started painting and drawing at an early age and occasionally took photos. At first she mainly devoted herself to painting , working with sand from the Australian desert for 12 years. Only later did she devote herself to photography and, among other things, began to capture her passion for golf in photographs (publications: All about Golf, My Golf Diary). For several years she has been photographing liana formations at different times of the year with her iPhone . These photos are processed by her with various programs, printed out and then collaged and painted over or supplemented with materials from nature. Her goal is to blur the lines between painting and photography. She recorded some of this work in her 2015 book “Roots & Bonds”. Photo critic Gerry Badger chose the book as one of the best photo books of 2015. In 2016, numerous international exhibitions followed with the series “Roots & Bonds”.
