Regina Schilling , née Regina Kamps (born October 27, 1962 in Cologne ) is a German documentary filmmaker and author.

Life

Schilling's father was a chemist , his parents first ran one and later two drugstores.

Schilling studied literature and education, was press officer at the publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch and has been self-employed since 1997. She lives and works in Cologne and Berlin. In addition to documentaries, she writes books for children and young people ( Take care, Mr Wurst ! , Fanny and Pepsi , I'm not you ).

She has been responsible for the Lit.Cologne program since it was founded in 2001 , initially as a press officer.

Schilling made documentaries about Josef Bierbichler , Adriana Altaras ( Tito's glasses ), Gerd Audehm , the abuse affair at the Odenwald School and a film about former Microsoft programmers. In Kulenkampffs Schuhe (2018), based on her own family history, she deals with well-known television entertainers of the post-war period ( Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff , Peter Alexander , Hans Rosenthal ), who were still decisively shaped by the National Socialist era, and how they were in the Federal Republic of Germany Let the public know about experiences.

In 2012 she received the Grimme Prize for a closed society . She also received awards for her film Tito's Glasses (Sguardi Altrove, Aegean Docs 2015). Kulenkampff's shoes were awarded the 3sat documentary film prize in 2018 as part of the 42nd Duisburg Film Week . With the same documentary, she received the German Academy for Television Prize in the Documentary Film category and the German Television Prize in the Best Documentation / Report category in 2019 .
