Regine Kanis (born August 16, 1962 in Gera ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 2009 to 2014 .

Career

Kanis graduated from the Polytechnic High School in Bad Köstritz in 1979 , trained as a lower level teacher in Crossen and then worked as a teacher in Kahla , Schleiz and Saalburg from 1983 to 1996 . In 1995/96 she completed an additional course in ethics at elementary schools at what was then the University of Education in Erfurt . Since 1996 she has been working as a special school teacher in Schleiz, for which she completed a further course of study to become a teacher for special schools from 1997 to 1999 at the Erfurt University of Education.

Kanis is a member of the district council in the Saale-Orla district and a member of the SPD district executive. Until 2009 she was also a member of the city council of Saalburg-Ebersdorf. In the state elections in 2009 , she was elected to the Thuringian state parliament over 14th place on the SPD state list. In the state elections in 2014 , she lost her mandate again, as neither her 17th place on the state list nor her first vote result in the constituency Saale-Holzland-Kreis II was sufficient for re-election.

For the election of the district administrator in the Saale-Orla district in January 2018, she ran for the Social Democrats as a candidate for office. She received support from the Left and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . With 37.4% of the vote it was defeated by the incumbent Thomas Fügmann (CDU), who achieved 62.6%.
