The regional bus Braunschweig GmbH (short RBB ) operates regular services in the northeastern, southeastern and southern Lower Saxony. It emerged from what was then the railway bus and post bus services in the aforementioned areas of Lower Saxony and is now a subsidiary of DB Regio AG.

The traffic area of the RBB extends from Lüneburg in the north to Hann. Münden in the south and from Höxter in the west to Wolfenbüttel and the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in the east.

history

The railway bus replaced unprofitable railway lines such as B. the Braunschweig-Schöningen Railway .

Until October 31, 1982 bus operations were under the management of the Hanover Federal Railway Directorate . On November 1, 1982, this was then renamed GBB Braunschweig (Railway Bus Division). On December 1, 1983, the railway took over the Postbus line transport of the post offices Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Bad Harzburg, Goslar and Salzgitter-Bad in the south and Wolfsburg and Uelzen in the north. As a result of the nationwide transformation of the rail bus operations into independent companies , Regionalbus Braunschweig GmbH - RBB for short - was founded on November 1, 1989 .

In the course of the privatization of Deutsche Bahn, the regional bus companies were transferred to DB Regio AG . On October 8, 2004, RBB was incorporated into the joint venture intalliance AG with Üstra Hannover . After the dissolution of Intalliance AG by mutual agreement of üstra and DB Regio, RBB has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of DB Regio again since January 1, 2007 under the umbrella of DB Stadtverkehr GmbH.

In order to make the regional anchoring clearer, the RBB has been presenting itself since October 1, 2008 under the name Heidebus in north-eastern Lower Saxony and as a southern Lower Saxony bus in the rest of the traffic area.

In April 2019, the RBB lost 17 lines in the Seesen / Salzgitter-Bad / Goslar / Bad Harzburg area to the HarzBus company, which was formed for this purpose .
