The Rövershagen grammar school is a cooperative comprehensive school with a regional school part and a grammar school part in Rövershagen . Due to the favorable traffic situation, pupils from surrounding towns such as Bentwisch , Mönchhagen and Graal-Müritz also visit the grammar school.

history

The grammar school was opened in August 1991 in the former polytechnic high school in Rövershagen for around 240 students. Two years later the main building of the school was completed and in 1996 the physics and chemistry rooms in an annex were still missing.

Participation in the Socrates program began in the mid-1990s . In March 1999 the school received the title European School from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of Culture . In 2007 a new art house was completed on the school premises.

activities

The “European School” project includes various student exchanges and direct contact with schools in other European countries. This exchange program is funded by the Comenius program and the Robert Bosch Foundation . The school has had partner schools in Spain, Latvia, Poland, Finland, Denmark and Lithuania since the mid-1990s.

The " War Graves Care " project is dedicated to regular donation campaigns and the care of war graves in various European countries as part of history lessons. On the occasion of the day of national mourning on November 18, 2007, pupils of the project gave a commemorative speech in the plenary hall of the German Bundestag , which was broadcast directly on the ARD .

For several years now, the school has been represented in the multidisciplinary competition "Formula 1 in schools". The aim is to bring the students closer to the natural sciences, especially the technical area. So far, the school has put together five teams. Two of them made it to the German championship.

The grammar school has two choirs, one for students from fifth to seventh grades and one for students from eighth to twelfth grades. The choirs perform in Graal-Müritz, Rövershagen and other surrounding areas, especially at Christmas time and in summer.

Several school bands have formed in the school. They also appear in extracurricular events, for example at village festivals in the surrounding villages, state rock festivals or band contests across Germany.

Another tradition at the grammar school is the " Biennale ". Sports, musical and artistic achievements are honored here. The audience votes on the prizes for the best media work, such as social studies projects or newspaper work, and the contributions are awarded the “Heath Oscar”.

Other activities are sports groups, for example canoeing . A school newspaper is also published.
