The RVBW ( R egional V erkehrsbetriebe B ADEN W ettingen) are a regional public transport company in the east of the canton of Aargau in Switzerland . The public company serves a densely populated area with over 90,000 inhabitants.

Twelve lines with a total length of 117 kilometers not only open up the eponymous towns of Baden and Wettingen , but also the agglomeration communities Birmenstorf , Ennetbaden , Gibstorf , Killwangen , Neuenhof , Obersiggenthal , Spreitenbach , Turgi , Untersiggenthal and Würenlos .

The company has 170 employees. In addition, two transport agents, Twerenbold Reisen AG (line 6) and Indemühle Bus AG (line 7), operate on behalf of RVBW AG. With a total of 63 buses (40 articulated buses, 19 normal buses and 4 minibuses), RVBW transport around 12.5 million passengers a year. The tariff structure of the RVBW is integrated into the tariff association A-Welle .

history

In 1970 the VBW (Verkehrsbetriebe Baden-Wettingen) was founded. Back then, the buses were burgundy with silver-gray inscriptions. The company emerged from the merger of Autobus GmbH (wine red vehicles) and Baumann Bus (red and cream vehicles). Originally it was planned to merge with the Julius Meier company and to integrate the company's Postbus routes. However, this failed. Nevertheless, the Julius Meier company procured wine-red vehicles. This is why wine-red Postbuses ran in the Baden region for several years .

With the entry into the area of validity of the general subscription , a name conflict arose with the United Bern-Worb Bahnen (now part of the RBS ), which made it necessary to rename it to RVBW . At the same time, the appearance with the so-called VST standard paintwork was adapted to the standard of the time for Swiss local transport companies (vehicles orange with black labels). This color scheme was replaced in the 1990s by a corporate identity in the colors white and red. The vehicles correspond to the design specifications of the canton of Aargau and have a red-blue-black wave over the entire length of the vehicle.
