The Reichenbach is a 10 km long tributary of the Zahmer Gera in the Ilm district ( Thuringia ).

It rises on the Henneberger Leite near Ilmenau-Roda and is dammed up to a pond in the local area. In its course it initially flows west-northwest towards Elgersburg , but then flows further north. A narrow valley follows between the Hirtenberg ( 549  m above sea level ) in the west and the Henneberger Leite ( 560  m above sea level ) in the east. Then the valley opens again. Here it is bridged by the Reichenbach viaduct , on which the federal motorway 71 runs. The Reichenbach reaches Martinroda below the bridge . Behind Martinroda it flows northward to Neusiß over before he shortly before Plaue in the Tame Gera flows .
