Reid Anderson

Reid Anderson (* 15. October 1970 in Minnesota ) is an American jazz - bassist and composer .

Reid Anderson became known as a member of The Bad Plus, with pianist Ethan Iverson and drummer Dave King . He also works on the New York jazz scene with his own trio, which has consisted of drummer Jorge Rossy and saxophonist Mark Turner since 1998 . With the formation he recorded the album Dirty Show Tunes in 1997 for Fresh Sound . A year later, Abolish Bad Architecture was created , with Jeff Ballard replacing Rossy on drums. In 1999 Anderson worked on Orrin Evans ' album Listen to the Band .
In 2000 Anderson formed a new formation with Andrew D'Angelo, Bill McHenry , Ben Monder and Marlon Browden, with whom he recorded the album The Vastness of Space . The album also contained two compositions by Anderson, which should also belong to The Bad Plus repertoire , "Prehensile Dream" and "Silence Is the Question". With The Bad Plus , Anderson recorded These Are the Vistas in 2003 for Columbia Records ; The album Give followed in 2003 . In 2017/18 he worked with Tim Berne and Chris Speed .

Anderson has also worked on recordings with Uri Caine ( The Goldberg Variations , 2000), Fred Hersch ( Songs Without Words , 2000) and Ethan Iverson ( Construction Zone , 1998).
