Reimund Haas

Reimund Haas (born July 6, 1949 in Essen ) is a German church historian in Cologne.

Life

From 1968 to 1979 he studied Catholic theology , history , philosophy , archival science and folklore at the Universities of Bochum , Bonn and Münster . In 1975 he obtained a degree in Catholic theology, licentiate (church history), 1st state examination in teaching at grammar school and in 1979 2nd state examination as an archive assessor. From 1984 to 2014 he was archivist at the Historical Archives of the Archdiocese of Cologne . He married Ulrike Haas in 1984, with whom he has a daughter. He was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD at the Ruhr University Bochum . He was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2006 by Chui University Bishkek. At the PTH Münster he taught as a lecturer (1976 didactics of church history), lecturer (1982–1994) and professor of church history (1994–2015). He also taught church history: Federal University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration (1982–1988), at the St. Lambert Study House (1987–2002), at the University of Essen (1992–1998), Federal Archives Koblenz / Archive School Marburg (1982–2013) and at the universities of Aachen and Cologne .

His focus is on the history of the bishopric and bishops of the dioceses in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Catholic Church under National Socialism in Europe, German, French and Polish martyrs, church defenses in Cologne and Dortmund, the history of councils with European synods from 721-1860, presbyteriology with biographies (LThK, NDB, BBKL ) and biographies of world and religious priests up to cardinals, order history, order archives and libraries from Alexians / Augustinians to Franciscans / Capuchins to the monastery history Essen / Cologne, parish and local history with regional special studies and commemorative publications and editions of Vatican and Rhenish-Westphalian sources on church and order history.
