Reiner Möckelmann

Reiner Möckelmann (born April 20, 1941 in Marburg ) is a former German diplomat and author .

Life

After graduating from high school and doing a bank apprenticeship in Hamburg, Reiner Möckelmann studied philology, sociology and economics in Marburg, Hamburg, Freiburg and Riverside (California) . After graduating as a Dipl. Rer. pol, he worked from 1969 to 1973 as a development consultant at the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau in Frankfurt.

In 1973 he joined the Foreign Service. This was followed by uses at the embassies in Moscow (1975–1978), Lima (1982–1986), Belgrade (1986–1989) and Ankara (1992–1996). From 2000 to 2003 he was envoy at the embassy in Vienna and from 2003 to 2006 consul general in Istanbul .

From 2006 through 2012 he led volunteer Summer School Wust e. V. for English language, literature, theater and music.

In 2013 he published the book Waiting Room Ankara. Ernst Reuter - exile and return to Berlin . In 2016 his book Franz von Papen - Hitler's Eternal Vassal and the Turkish edition of his book about Ernst Reuter were published. In 2018 his book Hannah von Bredow - Bismarck's fearless granddaughter against Hitler came out, in 2019 the Turkish translation of his book about von Papen was published.

Möckelmann lives with his wife in Berlin.
