Reinhard Bachmann

Reinhard Bachmann (born February 15, 1961 in Bayreuth ) is a German economist and social scientist who teaches and researches at the University of London , School of Oriental and African Studies . There he is professor in the field of International Management and head of the School of Finance and Management.

He is also the founder and director of the Center for Trust Research (at the University of London, SOAS).

Life

Reinhard Bachmann received his doctorate in 1993 from the University of Dortmund with a thesis on the subject of the practice of knowledge technology - sociological reconstructions using the example of the development and use of knowledge-based configuration systems (with Thomas Malsch). Before he accepted a position at the University of London , SOAS , in 2014 , he was a. a. at the University of Cambridge (as 'Research Fellow'), the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (as Assistant Professor), the University of London, Birkbeck College (as Associate Professor / 'Reader') and at the University of Surrey (as Full Professor) .

In 2006 he accepted invitations to professorships at New York University and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna; In 2012 he taught as a visiting professor at the University of Wuhan .

Reinhard Bachmann is co-founder and partner of the IUK Institute in Dortmund.

Reinhard Bachmann is one of the pioneers in trust research in the field of management theory. With his work from the 1990s, he made a significant contribution to the development and design of this research area, which is extremely topical today. His particular research interest focuses on the development and functions of trust and power in inter-company relationships (e.g. strategic alliances, networks, joint ventures). His work includes theoretical analyzes of the concept of trust as well as international comparative studies on the genesis of trust in vertical and horizontal business relationships.
