Reinhard Glöckner

Reinhard Glöckner (born October 27, 1933 in Lübeck ) is a German Protestant theologian , politician ( CDU ) and former Lord Mayor of Greifswald .

Life

Reinhard Hunchback studied theology and in 1962 at the University of Jena to Dr. theol. PhD . From 1974 to 1990 he was pastor at Greifswald's St. Marien Church . In the 1980s he was involved in the church peace movement in the GDR . In 1989 he took part in the organization of prayers for peace and Monday demonstrations in Greifswald and campaigned for the transformation of society in the GDR at the round table . After the turnaround , Reinhard Glöckner was elected Lord Mayor of Greifswald in April 1990 with a mandate from the CDU . He played a key role in the development of the city administration after reunification , was one of the founders of the Western Pomerania District and City Council and campaigned for the formation of the Pomerania Euroregion . In 1992 he was voted out by the Greifswald citizenship. His successor was Joachim von der Wense .

The Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald made him an honorary senator in 1993. The city of Greifswald honored him in 2009 with his entry in the Golden Book .
