Reinhard Kreckel
Reinhard Kreckel (born November 20, 1940 in Nuremberg ) is a German sociologist .
Life and work
Reinhard Kreckel studied sociology, history and philosophy in West Berlin, Paris, Aix-en-Provence and Munich (doctorate there in 1969). From 1969–73 he was a research assistant at the University of Munich , then (until 1977) lecturer and senior lecturer for sociology at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland). From 1977 to 1992 he taught sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg .
He was visiting professor at the New School for Social Research , New York, Dalhousie University , Halifax, the Institut d'études politiques , Paris, and the Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna. From 1992 to 2006 he taught as a sociologist at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . 1996–2000 he was its rector. From 2001 to 2010 he was director of the Institute for University Research (HoF) at Leucorea in Wittenberg. He has been a Senior Research Fellow at the HoF since 2011.
Reinhard Kreckel's scientific interests lie in the fields of theoretical macro-sociology, the sociology of social inequalities , gender and university research.
