Reinhard Perwitzschky

Reinhard Perwitzschky (born January 30, 1896 in Stargard ; † August 27, 1971 in Prien am Chiemsee ) was a German ENT doctor and university professor .

Life

Origin, studies and career entry

Reinhard Perwitzschky was the son of the factory director Walter Perwitzschky and his wife Ida Hinzel. He finished his school career at the Domgymnasium Kolberg . After the First World War , he completed a medical degree at the universities of Marburg and Greifswald, where he completed his studies in 1922 with a state examination and in 1923 as a Dr. med. received his doctorate . He then spent his assistantship in Greifswald. Following his teacher Wilhelm Brünings, he worked from 1926 as his senior physician at the ENT University Clinic in Jena and qualified as a professor there in 1927 for ear, nose and throat medicine. On a provisional basis, he took over the management of the ENT University Clinic in Munich in 1929, until Brünings was appointed to the chair a year later and took over the management of the clinic. The private lecturer was appointed associate professor in 1931.

Period of National Socialism - Professor in Breslau

From 1934 to 1945 he held the professorship for ENT medicine at the University of Wroclaw and headed the local ENT university clinic. From 1940, as senior staff physician, he also headed the East German jaw clinic of the XVI reserve hospital for facial and maxillofacial surgery. At the time of National Socialism he was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 3.257.733). As a member of the SD , he achieved the rank of Hauptsturmführer (SS No. 107.374) in 1941. In 1944 he was a member of the scientific advisory board of the authorized representative for health care Karl Brandt . After losing office in January 1945, he worked in a practice in Prien am Chiemsee. In August 1945 he was taken prisoner by the United States in Ludwigsburg and Moosburg for a few months.

After 1945

From 1950 to 1958 he worked in Dortmund (-Asseln) as a resident ENT specialist in the field of reconstructive surgery. He retired from the University of Münster in 1958 . He also practiced at his last place of residence, Prien am Chiemsee.

Act

Perwitzschky initially dealt with the "temperature and humidity controls" of the upper airways. He later carried out audiological examinations, in particular on the effects and treatment of hearing loss. Due to the war, another focus was reconstructive surgery.
