Reinhard Schaefer

Reinhard Schaefer (born April 12, 1928 in Straubing ) is a German doctor and was a medical officer with the rank of general doctor most recently in the army .

biography

Schaefer, the son of an ENT doctor , grew up in Straubing, graduated from high school in 1944 and served as Reich Labor Service at the beginning of 1945 , before serving as a mountain hunter until the end of the war .

During the subsequent British captivity until October 1948, he fell ill with typhus , cholera and malaria . After his return he took part in a special course for late returnees and made up for the regular Abitur in Ansbach. Like his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he began studying medicine . From 1949 to 1955 he studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . The doctorate took place at the Munich University Women's Clinic.

In 1958 he joined the German Armed Forces , completed basic training at the Army Officer School III in Munich and then the instruction course for medical officers at the Army Medical Service School . This was followed by further training as a specialist in surgery before he began working as a troop doctor in Munster . As a result, he was company commander of the medical training company in Munster from 1963, deputy commander of the medical battalion 2 from 1965, from 1971 to brigade doctor of Airborne Brigade 25 in Calw , from 1974 consultant in the inspection of the medical and health system in the BMVg , from 1978 divisional doctor of 1. Panzergrenadierdivision in Hanover and from 1980 corps doctor at III. Corps in Koblenz . In his last military service, he was stationed in Cologne as General Doctor of the Army from 1985 until his retirement in 1988 .

Schaefer is married and has two children. His son, Burkard Schaefer, is also a medical doctor and medical officer with the rank of senior staff doctor. He lives in Rheinbach-Wormersdorf.
