Reinhard Turre

Reinhard Turre (born July 26, 1941 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia ; † August 5, 2019 in Leipzig ) was a German Protestant theologian , pastor, university professor and, as the long-standing president of the diaconal work of the Evangelical Church in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony, a formative figure in diaconia in Central Germany .

Life

Turre was born on July 26, 1941 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia and grew up in Großengottern . From 1960 to 1965 he studied Protestant theology in Halle and in Berlin at the Humboldt University and the Sprachenkonvikt . Then he was inspector of the Reformed Convict in Halle until 1969 . In 1969 he completed his doctorate, married and took over the pastor's position in Roitzsch , which he held until 1975. In 1975 he became rector of the Diakonissenanstalt Halle (since 1982 Evangelisches Diakoniewerk), in 1989 he qualified as a professor in Halle with his Diakonik (published as a book in 1991), which has since become a standard work. In 1991 he moved to Magdeburg , where he was director of the social welfare work of the Evangelical Church in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony until 2004 . Here he was decisively involved in the merger of the Diakonische Werke in Anhalt, the ecclesiastical province of Saxony and Thuringia to form the Diakonisches Werk Evangelical Churches in Central Germany . In addition, Turre taught as an adjunct professor, first at the theological faculty in Halle , and later in Leipzig . Reinhard Turre was the father of four children.
