Reinhard Zeiher

Reinhard Zeiher (born September 25, 1939 in Pforzheim ) is a German wrestler and wrestling trainer. He started for the Pforzheimer club SV 98 Brötzingen and for the ASV Mainz in 1888 .

Life

Reinhard Zeiher comes from a well-known Pforzheim wrestling family and began wrestling as a child. Zeiher's six younger brothers were also active on the wrestling mat and were sometimes trained by Reinhard.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Reinhard Zeiher stood on the podium several times at German championships . His specialty was freestyle wrestling; Zeiher was also successful in Greco-Roman wrestling.

In 1973 Reinhard Zeiher became German wrestling team champion with ASV Mainz 1888. Zeiher was particularly valuable to his team, as he could be used successfully in both styles. Wilfried Dietrich and Emil Müller were among his teammates from Mainz .

International success

At the Freestyle World Championships in Delhi in 1967 Reinhard Zeiher reached 12th place in the weight class up to 78 kg. At the European Championships in Karlsruhe in 1966, he was 9th in the freestyle class.

Reinhard Zeiher celebrated his greatest international successes in the 1990s: He was six times world champion in the veteran wrestlers (Masters) in freestyle . Due to injuries, Zeiher was forced to give up veteran wrestling in the early 2000s. He then worked for several years as a wrestling trainer for various clubs in North Baden.
