Reinhard van Hoorickx

Reinhard van Hoorickx (born December 1918 near Ghent ; † October 10, 1997 in Sint-Truiden ) was a Belgian Franciscan and musicologist .

Life

Hoorickx joined the order in 1937 and was ordained a priest in Sint-Truiden in 1943. He was in Egypt from 1947 to 1956, then in Jerusalem until 1964, and in Syria for the next four years. In 1968 he returned to his homeland and spent 13 years there, but was transferred to Corsica from 1981 to 1993.

In addition to his work as a clergyman, Hoorickx was primarily active as a musicologist and composer . He became known thanks to his numerous source research and because of his attempts to add to the performance of fragmentary compositions by Franz Schubert .
