Reinhard Karl Wilhelm Dietrich von Gemmingen (born December 27, 1859 in Stettenfels , † November 4, 1909 in Illenau ) was a Württemberg colonel .

Life

He came from the 2nd sub-branch (Stuttgart) of the Fürfeld line of the barons of Gemmingen-Guttenberg and was a son of the Württemberg forest officer Ernst Franz Karl von Gemmingen (1816–1876) and Pauline von der Osten (1830–1915). He was first brought up by private tutors and, after his father was transferred, attended Latin school and, from 1871, the secondary school in Kirchheim unter Teck .

In 1873 he entered the Tertia of the Cadet House in Oranienstein , and in 1874 the Secunda of the Cadet Corps in Berlin . After the Portepeef Ensign examination in 1876, he was accepted into the Selekta of the Cadet Corps. In 1876/77 he was a page at the royal Prussian court in Berlin. After his officer examination, he joined the Grenadier Regiment "Queen Olga" (1st Württembergisches) No. 119 of the Württemberg Army as a second lieutenant . From March 1879 to 1881 he was an adjutant at the Reutlingen district command. During this time he was promoted to prime lieutenant. From May 1882 to November 1886 he was adjutant of the 2nd battalion of his regiment. In 1892/93 he was adjutant of the 51st Infantry Brigade (1st Royal Württembergische) . In 1893 he was promoted to captain and appointed company commander of his regiment. In 1894 he was sent to Prussia to join the training infantry battalion in Potsdam. He ended his military career on June 21, 1906 as a colonel.

From 1898 he was married to Hildegard Capler von Oedheim called Bautz (1867-1905), a daughter of Heinrich Capler von Oedheim called Bautz . His brother Max von Gemmingen (1868–1949) embarked on an almost identical military career and married Gertrud (1872–1962), another Capler daughter.
