Reinhold Körner (born March 11, 1803 in Linz ; † August 15, 1873 ibid) was an Austrian politician (Liberal Party), mayor of the Upper Austrian capital Linz and a businessman.

Life

Reinhold Körner attended the Schottengymnasium in Vienna from 1813 and then worked, like his father Reinhold Körner, who died early, and like his stepfather Alois Kapler as a merchant in Linz (specialty, material and color goods dealer).

Körner's father bought the Linz houses at Hofgasse 1 and Hofgasse 3 in 1803, and in 1841, Körner himself also bought the house at Hauptplatz 16 .

The first freely elected Linz municipal council was appointed by Körner to the provisional council on July 30, 1848, and on August 11, 1858 he was confirmed as mayor of Linz. After Emperor Franz Joseph I ordered the postponement of the local elections for an indefinite period (until a new municipal law came into force) by means of a resolution of February 19, 1854, Körner, on the pretext that his eyesight was getting weaker and he had to take urgent business trips, on March 10, 1854 back in office.

After a compulsory break of around ten years, the population of Linz was again allowed to decide on the composition of the city parliament in January 1861, whereby the popular former mayor Reinhold Körner was re-elected. With regard to the annual supplementary elections, Körner announced on March 1, 1867 that he had to resign from his functions as mayor and councilor because of his poor health. In the 1st legislative period he was a member of the House of Representatives from 1863 to 1865 .
