René Dereuddre

René Dereuddre (born June 22, 1930 in Bully-les-Mines , † April 16, 2008 in Le Mans ) was a French football player .

Club career

Dereuddre began playing football as a youth at Étoile Sportive de Bully , the club in his hometown near Lens . During this time he played together with Raymond Kopa and Jean Vincent in the northern French regional junior team. At 20, the attacking midfielder switched to CO Roubaix-Tourcoing , where he played for three years. In 1953 he went to FC Toulouse , with whom he celebrated the runner-up in 1955 and won the 1957 cup . In the final, which Toulouse won 6-3 against SCO Angers , the two goals give him a temporary 2-0 lead.

In 1957 he returned to RC Lens near his birthplace . In his year in Lens, he scored six goals in 30 league appearances. He then stood for two seasons with the cup final opponent from 1957, the SCO Angers, under contract, but moved to the second division FC Nantes during the 1959/60 season . From 1961 to 1964 Dereuddre played in Grenoble before going to the US du Mans . Here he worked as a player- coach until 1967 and then as a coach for another nine years .

National team

From 1954 to 1957 Dereuddre was used six times in the Équipe tricolore . He scored a goal.

He made his debut on May 30, 1954 in a 3-3 draw against Belgium . Then he was part of the French squad at the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, where he was used in both games . Only four months later he was in the team that defeated reigning world champions Germany 3-1 in Hanover on October 16, 1954 . For the 1958 World Cup , he only played in the qualification . He made his last game for the Bleus on June 2, 1957 against Iceland . In the 8-0 win, he scored his only goal for his home country.
