René Hecht (born October 16, 1961 in West Staaken , Falkensee municipality , Nauen district , today Berlin ) is the volleyball player with 385 appearances - Germany's record national player . In 1991 René Hecht was voted volleyball player of the year . With the TSC Berlin and the SCC Berlin he was several times GDR champion and FDGB and German cup winner .

In recognition of his services to volleyball, René Hecht received the volleyball award on the eve of the 2011 cup final in Halle, Westphalia, which has been presented since 2006. René Hecht was President of the Berlin Volleyball Association until May 2019. On June 17, 2018, Hecht was also appointed President of the German Volleyball Association after the predecessor Thomas Krohne and five other board members announced their resignation.

Hecht's son Florian is also a volleyball player and played for various clubs in the German Bundesliga .
