Renate Kobler

Renate Kobler (* 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian diplomat .

Life

Renate Kobler earned her Baccalauréat (Matura) at the Lycée Français de Vienne and studied law at the Universities of Graz and Vienna .

1991 Kobler entered the diplomatic service. In 1993 she worked at the Embassy in Dublin (Ireland) and from 1994 in Rome (Italy) . From 1997 she was deputy head of mission in Athens (Greece) , with Ambassador Hans Sabaditsch . In 2001 she moved to the permanent representation at the European Union in Brussels, where she was the representative of Austria in the Council working group on enlargement . In 2005 she returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna and was head of the department for EU budget, financial and currency issues, and then worked in the personnel policy and administrative section.

November 2011 Kobler was appointed ambassador in Tallinn for the Republic of Estonia . In her time, the fears against Russia triggered by the Ukraine conflict were the topic. In August 2015 she moved to the embassy in Skopje for Macedonia (letter handed over on September 10). In addition to general EU integration issues and the unstable political situation since February 2015, she is also concerned with the EU refugee crisis in which Macedonia, as part of the Balkan route, became a focal point at the time of her departure.
