Renate Orth-Guttmann
Renate M. Orth-Guttmann (* 28. August 1935 in Berlin as Renate Guttmann ) is a German translator .
Life
Renate Orth-Guttmann completed her studies in English and Slavic studies with a master's degree . Today she lives in Frankfurt am Main . She began translating works of fiction and non-fiction from English in the mid-1960s . The numerous authors she has translated include Joan Aiken , Roddy Doyle , David Lodge , Joyce Carol Oates and Ruth Rendell .
Orth-Guttmann is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works . In 1989 she received the Christoph Martin Wieland Translator Award .
