Renate Woltron (born May 30, 1972 in Leoben ) is an Austrian director , author , dramaturge , film and theater producer and actress .

Life

Renate Woltron was born in Leoben in Styria. She studied theater, film and media studies and history in Vienna (thesis: women's fates in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's films , Doctorate 2002 - Dissertation: Effi Briest : The novel and its film versions ).

Since 1991 she has worked in Vienna as a director, author, actress, dramaturge and producer. In her private life she is married to the Austrian actor and speaker Manuel Girisch , with whom she has been staging several own theater and reading productions per year since 1999. As a trainer for German as a foreign language, Woltron has been involved in integration since 2007. From 2015 to 2018 she was also a lecturer at the Center for Distance Learning in Vienna (course “History and Culture”).

Woltron has been a long-time member of the First Vienna Reading Theater founded by Rolf Schwendter and a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly (GAV).

Acting in the film

Renate Woltron has appeared in various films - in addition to directing, scripting and acting - as a screenwriter, film editor, executive producer, producer and camerawoman. Her film Wand vor der Wand (2013) was shown at the Austrian Film Festival and was selected for the Austrian Film Prize . Just like her feature film "Strawberry Moments" (2019).
