Reno Air was an American airline. It was founded in June 1990 and integrated into American Airlines on August 30, 1999 .

The first flight of the Reno Air was carried out on 1 July 1992 and led from the Reno-Tahoe to airport Seattle / Tacoma in Washington state. In addition to the hub in Reno, the airline bought the hub in San Jose from American Airlines and used it as a second major hub. Up to five MD-87 , four MD-82 , eleven MD-83 , five MD-90-30 were used in multi-class seating , which were given the license plates with the endings RA (e.g. N901RA). If required, further MD-80s were rented from other airlines (e.g. SAS, Avianca, Meridiana). At the same time, the airline linked its mile system with that of American Airlines and allowed AAdvantage members to collect bonuses for flying with Reno Air.

The airline's main business was done on the American west coast, but another route network was created later. Mid Pacific Air flew under the name Reno Air Express from summer 1994 to spring 1995 with seven BAe Jetstream 31 from Gulfport , Mississippi to the destinations Saint Petersburg and Orlando in Florida as well as to Atlanta . The mission ended with the bankruptcy of Mid Pacific Air.

In February 1999, Reno Air was taken over by American Airlines, the flight operations ceased on August 30, 1999. The fleet was initially taken over by American Airlines and repainted accordingly, but after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , all aircraft from the former Reno Air were phased out.
