Reno de Hondt (born October 6, 1995 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Tilburg Trappers again since 2014 and has played with the club in the German Oberliga Nord since 2015 .

Career

Clubs

Reno de Hondt began his career as an ice hockey player with the Tilburg Trappers from his hometown, for whose second team he made his debut as a 15-year-old in the Eerste divisie , the second highest Dutch division. From 2013 to 2015 he played, only interrupted by three games for the U18 of the Malmö Redhawks , at the Eindhoven Hightechs also in the Eerste divisie. In 2013 he moved overseas, where he spent a season with the Flint junior generals of the North American Tier III Hockey League (NA3HL). In 2014 he returned to his home club in Tilburg and won the double of cup and championship with the team in 2015 . He then moved to the German Oberliga Nord with the Trappers and became German Oberliga champions in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

International

For the Netherlands, de Hondt took part in the games of the U18 World Championships in Division II in 2012 , when he was voted best player of his team, and in 2013, as well as the U20 Junior World Championships in 2013 , 2014 and 2015, also in Division II.

He made his debut for the men's national team in the 2016 Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang . He then played in Division II at the 2018 World Cup when the Oranjes were promoted to Division I.
