geography

The Repe rises from the Teckelberg above the village of Rieflinghausen at an altitude of 495  m above sea level. NHN . From here it flows primarily in a northeasterly direction. It flows through the villages of Rieflinghausen, Repe , Helden , Niederhelden and Röllecken , which belong to Attendorn , to flow into the Lenne at Borghausen at 241  m .

On its 11.4 km long path, the Repe overcomes a difference in altitude of 266 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 23.3 ‰. Its catchment area has a size of 26.367 km². The widest part of the creek bed is about 5.5 m in the area just before the Lenne estuary.

use

The water of the Repe was already a cheap source of energy in earlier times, from which some work in the Repetal could benefit. The former Rölleck mill, because it is located directly on the bed of the stream, was able to drive its millstones through the water flow. A mill pond with a sluice ensured that flour could be ground even in dry times. The marble grinding shops in the lower Repetal, which worked the nationally known red "marble" (a red limestone ), were also operated by discharging the Repewater. In the past, bleaching sites were set up in the towns on the Repe in order to use the cleaning power of the Repewater.
